Notes: This is a DEMO version of a shareware inventory program suitable for small businesses. This demo version limits you to a maximum of 100 items; the shareware version requests a registration fee of $39.00. Be sure to download Part 2 of 2 before trying to run this program.
Before installing, read the instructions in the manual first. It tells you not to copy a file to the subdirectory in which your program files are located, but no such file came with the program. The uncompressed files include one file, DIR.TXT, which does not appear to be part of the program; you can safely delete it.
While the program will run from floppy disks, a hard disk is recommended. I had no difficulties starting the program from a hard disk drive using the INVPRO.BAT command. To avoid loading problems, your CONFIG.SYS file should contain the following commands:
FILES=10
BUFFERS=20
Inventory-Pro appears to offer all the standard features of a complete inventory control system, including data entry items such as item description, location, vendor I.D., cost, wholesale cost, retail cost, etc. As with most such data programs, you can re-index all your files at any time.
To examine the data files, you must be able to specify at least one parameter, such as item description, location, vendor I.D., etc. Not being involved in maintaining an inventory list, I'm not very familiar with what's important to the manager, but believe that the program provides all the necessary controls and functions.
The program has one extra feature: you can print out labels for your merchandise on label stock. The price is printed in extra-large figures.
The printer program is initially set for Epson and compatible dot-matrix printers, but you can configure it for other printers using the built-in program feature.
To run, type: INVPRO <ENTER/RETURN>
